PROMPT IMPROVER

Improve a prompt that keeps missing the mark

Paste the prompt you already use, add the answer that disappointed you if you have it, and say in plain words what should be different. Mint Prompts rewrites it into a complete prompt that keeps what already works and fills in what your AI was left to guess.

Why a prompt keeps missing

When an answer comes back generic, too long or quietly wrong, the prompt usually left something unsaid. The AI does not stop to ask. It fills each gap with a guess, and the safest guess is the most generic answer it can give. The usual gaps:

  • The task is there, but not the situation: who the answer is for, what already exists, what it will be used for.
  • The requirements that matter most are in your head, not in the prompt.
  • Nothing says what to leave out, so the AI adds filler, hype or details it made up.
  • Two instructions pull against each other, such as “keep it short” and “cover every feature”.
  • The format is left open, so you get an essay when you needed a checklist.
  • Nothing asks the AI to check its answer against what you asked for.

How to improve a prompt with Mint Prompts

  1. Open Improve a prompt. The button on this page goes straight there. From the home page, choose Context & options, then Improve a prompt.
  2. Paste what you have. Your existing prompt, and the answer that missed the mark if you have it. The answer shows what the AI misunderstood.
  3. Say what should be better. In your own words: “It sounded like an advert. I need it to sound like me, and under 120 words.”
  4. Choose where you will use it. Pick your AI under Files, reusable context & preferences, or leave it on any capable assistant.
  5. Review, copy, paste. Read the rewritten prompt, change anything you like (saving your edits is free), then paste it into your AI.

What changes, and what stays

Mint Prompts keeps your requirements, format and details intact, and adds the parts your AI needs to do the job well: a clear goal, the relevant context, the must-haves, the limits, the format and a way to check the result.

Review the prompt before you rely on it. Mint Prompts writes the instructions; your AI does the work, and it can still get things wrong.

Before and after

Before: the prompt
Write a LinkedIn post announcing our new scheduling feature.

What went wrong: the post read like an advert, ran to 300 words and quoted a customer nobody had interviewed.

After: the improved prompt
Goal: Write a LinkedIn post announcing our new scheduling feature to the people who already follow our company page.

Context: We make [product] for [audience]. The feature lets customers [what it does]. It is available from [date] on [plans]. Use only these facts and leave a clearly marked placeholder for anything I have not supplied.

Must-haves: Open with the problem the feature solves, in the reader’s words. Say what the feature does in one plain sentence. End with where to try it.

Limits: Write like a person, not an advert: no hype words, no exclamation marks, no emoji. Do not invent customers, quotes, numbers or results. Under 120 words.

Format: The post text only, in short paragraphs, then one suggested first comment with a placeholder for the link.

Self-check: Before answering, confirm every claim comes from the context above and the post is under 120 words.

Fixing a prompt yourself? Start here

  • Say who the answer is for and what they already know.
  • Give the facts, and tell the AI not to invent anything you did not supply.
  • Paste a short example of what good looks like, if you have one.
  • Name the format and length you will actually use.
  • Say what to leave out: hype, jargon, caveats, a sign-off.
  • Ask the AI to check its answer against your requirements before it replies.
